ISKANDAR PUTERI, 13 December 2018 – Johor State Government through the Johor Centre for Construction Development (JCCD) and Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB ) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in the area of relevant construction related training programmes and project management.

Under the two years terms of the MoU, CIDB will provide relevant training, develop the skills and knowledge of the contractors registered under JCCD.

“The partnership between JCCD and CIDB underscores the state government’s commitment to engage and collaborate with various agencies and stakeholders to drive the adoption of latest technologies in the construction industry especially in infrastructure development. This is in line with the Johor Budget 2019 whereby infrastructure development is one of the key thrusts that we are going to focus.” said Menteri Besar Johor, YAB Dato’ Haji Osman Haji Sapian.

He added, through JCCD, the state government will ensure the involvement of local contractors to take part in the many mega projects including public transportation projects in Johor like Gemas-JB double track project that is set to complete in 2022.

The RM8.9 billion Gemas-Johor Bahru double-tracking project involves the construction of 197km of double tracks, stations, electric trains, depots, land viaduct, bridges, and electrification and signalling systems.

Chief Executive of CIDB Malaysia, Dato’ Ir. Ahmad `Asri Abdul Hamid said CIDB always welcome smart partnerships with industry players to further enhance the product quality, delivery and sustainability of the construction industry.

Ir. Ahmad `Asri signed the MoU on behalf of CIDB Holdings Sdn. Bhd (CIDBH) while JCCD was represented by JCCD’s Chairman, YB Haji Mohd Solihan Badri and witnessed by the YAB Menteri Besar Johor and Works, Infrastructure and Transport Committee Chairman, YB Tuan Haji Mazlan Bujang. Also present at the signing ceremony was JCCD’s Chief Executive, Encik Ekmaludin Ishak.

The signing ceremony is held in conjunction with the launch of JCCD’s operation office in Iskandar Puteri.
