hover_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243;]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">JOHOR BARU, Nov 22 \u2014 National sewerage company Indah\u00a0Water Konsortium Sdn Bhd (IWK) is taking over operations of 206 wastewater treatment plants in Johor Baru and Pasir Gudang from the Johor government during the first quarter of next year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The takeover\u00a0follows an agreement by the Johor government to hand over public sewerage services in areas under the jurisdiction of the Johor Baru City Council (MBJB) and the Pasir Gudang Municipal Council (MPPG) to IWK for operation\u00a0and maintenance.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe National Water Service\u00a0Commission (SPAN) will monitor the takeover process to ensure that it is carried out smoothly and will not disrupt sewerage services to consumers in Johor Baru and Pasir Gudang,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ads-container\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div id=\"mm-teads\" class=\"my-3 ads text-center \" data-google-query-id=\"CLy48LWm4eYCFQqnaAod9vIJSw\">\n<div id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/32246135\/1x1-teads_0__container__\"><iframe id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/32246135\/1x1-teads_0\" title=\"3rd party ad content\" name=\"google_ads_iframe_\/32246135\/1x1-teads_0\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" scrolling=\"no\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" frameborder=\"0\" data-google-container-id=\"4\" data-load-complete=\"true\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Xavier also\u00a0said that IWK would need about 24 months to repair and upgrade some of the\u00a0plants to achieve the desired level of operation, as well as to meet the standards set by the Department of Environment (DOE).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The federal government, he said, would also look into the potential of setting up a wastewater-treatment centre to produce a new source of water, besides helping the state government to implement the Regional Sewerage Treatment Plant.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This is because currently, the South Johor area has less than five per cent of water reserves, so IWK\u2019s expertise in treating sewage water as a new water source\u00a0is very much needed, he added. \u2014 Bernama<\/p>\n<div class=\"ads-container\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div id=\"mm-story-outstream\" class=\"my-3 ads text-center \" data-google-query-id=\"CLq48LWm4eYCFQqnaAod9vIJSw\">\n<div id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/32246135\/MM-1x1-Outstream_0__container__\"><iframe id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/32246135\/MM-1x1-Outstream_0\" title=\"3rd party ad content\" name=\"google_ads_iframe_\/32246135\/MM-1x1-Outstream_0\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" scrolling=\"no\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" frameborder=\"0\" data-google-container-id=\"2\" data-load-complete=\"true\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"misc-ads\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Water, Land and Natural Resources Minister\u00a0Datuk Dr A Xavier Jayakumar, in a statement issued here today said the takeover process would be carried out and coordinated jointly by the Johor government\u2019s subsidiaries, namely Johor Special Water Sdn Bhd (JSW) and Permodalan Darul Takzim Sdn Bhd (PDT), during the first quarter of 2020.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe takeover is important to ensure a good and more efficient sewerage services in the two affected areas.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.0.6&#8243;
