Permodalan Darul Ta\u2019zim (PDT) is a company owned by the Johor State Government, established on December 16, 1994. PDT is entrusted with the responsibility of managing assets and equities owned by State Secretary Incorporated (SSI). <\/span><\/p>\n

PDT will participate in this year’s Asia-Pacific Climate Week (APCW 2023) to spearhead green development initiatives in Johor, with a primary focus on enhancing and expanding sustainable environment practices. <\/span><\/p>\n

Through this event, PDT underscores its commitment to environmental sustainability and climate action by establishing collaborative agreements, including Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) and Collaboration Agreements (CAs), and engaging in discussions and knowledge-sharing sessions to explore innovative solutions to mitigate the impacts of climate change. This marks a significant step towards addressing climate change challenges in the Asia-Pacific region alongside governments, non-governmental organizations, and stakeholders.<\/p>\n

Johor\u2019s Green Development: Statewide Solar Initiatives Spearheaded by Permodalan Darul Ta\u2019zim (PDT)<\/strong><\/h3>\n

In a bold move towards achieving green development, the state of Johor has set its focus on renewable and clean energy as a solution to combat climate change and eventually serve as a catalyst to attract potential investors towards a more environmentally friendly business market. To underscore their commitment towards a sustainable and eco-friendly future, the state government have mooted the solar project initiatives across all local authorities in Johor. In order to execute this initiative effectively, the State Government has entrusted Permodalan Darul Ta\u2019zim (PDT), a state-owned Government-Linked company (GLC) as the right entity to implement solar-based project in all local authorities in Johor.<\/p>\n

On the 12th<\/sup> of July 2021, the Johor\u2019s state government has greenlit the Supply Agreement Renewable Energy (SARE) initiatives introduced by Energy Commission (ST) to be implemented in all Johor State Local Authority. To date, PDT has received offer letters from fourteen (14) local authorities with a total solar system capacity of 3.35MW. So far, six local authorities-owned buildings have been powered by solar since July 2023, which concurrently saving up to RM 3.26 million in electricity costs, eliminating 5,900 tons of CO2 emissions and preserving 247,000 trees over 25 years.<\/p>\n

In addition, PDT also has broadened its solar initiatives by venturing into Large Scale Solar project (LSS) since the launch of LLS 3 program in 2019. PDT intends to support the State Government\u2019s initiative through the Corporate Green Power Program (CGPP) which utilizes the Virtual Power Purchase Agreement (VPPA) for the implementation of the solar farm project in Johor. The CGPP program has a total quota of 800 megawatts, effective from 3 April 2023 until 31 December 2023, or subject to quota subscription. Under this program, PDT aims to develop an LLS power plant on a vast 86.91-hectares (214.75-acres) site located on lot 18213.<\/p>\n

In a groundbreaking initiative, Johor is embarking on the “Projek Payung<\/em>,” a Large-Scale Centralized Solar Farm Development under TNB’s 200MW scheme. PDT will take the charge as the main developer, collaborating with Small and Medium Enterprises, Cooperatives, and the Johor State Economic Development Corporation. The terms carbon trading and carbon credit are initiatives that are increasingly being discussed worldwide. Various countries have started to conduct studies and implement carbon market mechanisms. Essentially, this movement is an extension of the commitments made under the \u201cParis Agreement\u201d signed in 2015 to deal with climate change issue.<\/p>\n

The Johor State Government has shown interest in the overall carbon market scenario and has entrusted Permodalan Darul Ta\u2019zim (PDT) to delve into carbon market initiatives for the state of Johor. Since June 2023, representatives from PDT have attended several seminars on carbon market, including talk by Bursa Malaysia through the Voluntary Carbon Market (VCM) and Bursa Carbon Exchange (BCX).<\/p>\n

One of the remarkable initiatives by the Johor State Government is its pioneering role in the forest sector carbon market to implement forest carbon credit transactions in both local and international markets. To achieve this, the State Government has started cooperation with the Malaysia Forest Fund (MFF).<\/p>\n

MFF is an agency established by the Federal Government through the Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change (NRECC) that plays a major role in providing an effective mechanism in helping state to generate income involving the carbon credit market in the forested areas in Malaysia. The MFF will serve as a bridge, coordinating between investors and the state government.<\/p>\n

PDT will venture into a collaboration with Johor State Forestry Department (JPNJ) and Malaysia Forest Fund (MFF) to implement carbon credit initiative in Johor with a focus on nature-based approach. PDT\u2019s Pioneering Role In Green Technology: Ev (Electric Vehicle) Charging Expansion<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Aligned with the commitments of the Paris Agreement in 2015, Malaysia is actively participating in the initiatives with the Global EV Outlook 2023: Catching up with climate ambitions (GEVO2023). According to GEVO2023 report, the global EV market is growing rapidly, with an expected increase of 14% in 2022, up from 9% growth in 2021. This growth trend suggests that 10 million electric vehicles will be sold worldwide.<\/p>\n

To support the growth of the electric vehicle (EV) market, the Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC) has set an ambitious goal to provide 10,000 electric vehicle charging stations nationwide by 2025. However, the current total of 1,063 stations is still insufficient, despite the rising demand with almost 50,000 EV cars on the road. To address this issue, the Johor State Government has developed a Green Growth Roadmap, which highlights Mobility and Transportation as one of the crucial aspects, emphasizing the need for EV charging infrastructure in Johor that aligns with the country’s commitment to the EV revolution.<\/p>\n

Permodalan Darul Ta\u2019zim (PDT), under the leadership of its Chief Executive (Group), YB Dato’ Ramlee Bin A. Essentially, this movement is an extension of the commitments made under the \u201cParis Agreement\u201d signed in 2015 to deal with climate change issue.<\/p>\n

The Johor State Government has shown interest in the overall carbon market scenario and has entrusted Permodalan Darul Ta\u2019zim (PDT) to delve into carbon market initiatives for the state of Johor. Since June 2023, representatives from PDT have attended several seminars on carbon market, including talk by Bursa Malaysia through the Voluntary Carbon Market (VCM) and Bursa Carbon Exchange (BCX).<\/p>\n

One of the remarkable initiatives by the Johor State Government is its pioneering role in the forest sector carbon market to implement forest carbon credit transactions in both local and international markets. To achieve this, the State Government has started cooperation with the Malaysia Forest Fund (MFF).<\/p>\n

MFF is an agency established by the Federal Government through the Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change (NRECC) that plays a major role in providing an effective mechanism in helping state to generate income involving the carbon credit market in the forested areas in Malaysia. PDT will venture into a collaboration with Johor State Forestry Department (JPNJ) and Malaysia Forest Fund (MFF) to implement carbon credit initiative in Johor with a focus on nature-based approach. To support the growth of the electric vehicle (EV) market, the Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC) has set an ambitious goal to provide 10,000 electric vehicle charging stations nationwide by 2025. However, the current total of 1,063 stations is still insufficient, despite the rising demand with almost 50,000 EV cars on the road. To address this issue, the Johor State Government has developed a Green Growth Roadmap, which highlights Mobility and Transportation as one of the crucial aspects, emphasizing the need for EV charging infrastructure in Johor that aligns with the country’s commitment to the EV revolution.<\/p>\n

Permodalan Darul Ta\u2019zim (PDT), under the leadership of its Chief Executive (Group), YB Dato’ Ramlee Bin A. In a bold move towards achieving green development, the state of Johor has set its focus on renewable and clean energy as a solution to combat climate change and eventually serve as a catalyst to attract potential investors towards a more environmentally friendly business market. To underscore their commitment towards a sustainable and eco-friendly future, the state government have mooted the solar project initiatives across all local authorities in Johor. In order to execute this initiative effectively, the State Government has entrusted Permodalan Darul Ta\u2019zim (PDT), a state-owned Government-Linked company (GLC) as the right entity to implement solar-based project in all local authorities in Johor.<\/p>\n

On the 12th<\/sup> of July 2021, the Johor\u2019s state government has greenlit the Supply Agreement Renewable Energy (SARE) initiatives introduced by Energy Commission (ST) to be implemented in all Johor State Local Authority. To date, PDT has received offer letters from fourteen (14) local authorities with a total solar system capacity of 3.35MW. So far, six local authorities-owned buildings have been powered by solar since July 2023, which concurrently saving up to RM 3.26 million in electricity costs, eliminating 5,900 tons of CO2 emissions and preserving 247,000 trees over 25 years.<\/p>\n

In addition, PDT also has broadened its solar initiatives by venturing into Large Scale Solar project (LSS) since the launch of LLS 3 program in 2019. PDT intends to support the State Government\u2019s initiative through the Corporate Green Power Program (CGPP) which utilizes the Virtual Power Purchase Agreement (VPPA) for the implementation of the solar farm project in Johor. The CGPP program has a total quota of 800 megawatts, effective from 3 April 2023 until 31 December 2023, or subject to quota subscription. Under this program, PDT aims to develop an LLS power plant on a vast 86.91-hectares (214.75-acres) site located on lot 18213.<\/p>\n

In a groundbreaking initiative, Johor is embarking on the “Projek Payung<\/em>,” a Large-Scale Centralized Solar Farm Development under TNB’s 200MW scheme. PDT will take the charge as the main developer, collaborating with Small and Medium Enterprises, Cooperatives, and the Johor State Economic Development Corporation. This unified effort highlights Johor\u2019s dedication to renewable energy and strengthens the state\u2019s role in Malaysia\u2019s sustainability energy landscape.<\/p>\n
